Pesticidal Potential of Congress Grass The pesticidal properties of crude petrolium ether extract of the
aerial partsof Congress Grass Parthenium hysterophorus L. has been evaluated by the
scientists of Gurunanak Dev University, Amritsar.The experiment conducted on the adults of
mustard aphid Lipaphis erysimi showed that the extract possess significant activty and
decreased the life span of mustard aphid and progeny production.Among the plant parts
tested ,the leaf extract exhibit maximum effect in causing dose dependent reduction in
both the life span and progeny production(Sohal et al,2002,J. Envir.Biol.,23.1.15-18)
