NESA Award to Dr. K. A. Kulkarni Professor K. A. Kulkarni, Head, Agricultural Entomology, College of Agriculture, Dharwad has been selected for the "Nesa Scientist of the year award" (National Environment Science Academy Award) 2002. The award, which is for his work on Biopesticides, will be presented at the inaugaral function of the XVI Annual Conference of the academy at Kolkata on 7-8 March 2003 which carries citation, certificate, Momento and a Goldmedal. Professor K. A. Kulkarni who hails from a farming family of village Bhosaga (Gulbarga district) has 33 years of experience in the field of Agricultural Entomology, been instrumental in developing pest management strategies on different crops. Throughout his student courier he has been a merit student and secured Goldmedal for his Ph.D. degree. He has guided 22 M.Sc. and 8 Ph.D. students, published more than 200 scientific papers in National and International Journals. He has been instrumental in getting extramural funds to the tune of Rs. 1 crore for the research and development of the department through various adhoc research projects. He is life member of many scientific bodies, prominent among them are
Association for biocontrol advancement, Bangalore and National Environmental Science
Academy, New Delhi. He is also on the Research Advisory Council of National Research
Centre for sorghum, Hyderabad.He has institution development attitude and has served as
Secretary, Entomology Club, Alumni Association and President Kannada Sangha of the host
institute. Currently he is the Vice President of Association for biocontrol
advancement, Bangalore. Widely travelled Dr. Kulkarni has visited USA during 1984
for an International workshop on sorghum pests. |
