New Competitive Plants Identified to Suppress Parthenium ) Prof.M.L.Naik,Department of
Life sciences,Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University,Raipur(India) has identified three native
plants i.e. Hyptis suaveolens,Malachra captita and Blumea oxydentata for smothering the
growth of Parthenium.In his laboratory experiment sponsored t Bharat Heavy Electrical
Board,Bhopal (India) ,he has found the positive allelopathic effects of these plants on
germination and growth of Parthenium.Prof.Naik is working on this aspect from one year.He
informed the IPRNG that soon field experimentation will be started to ascertain the
practical success rate of the method. |
