Parthenium(or Congress or Gagar Grass), a toxic alien plant has widely spread in India causing health hazard and denuding agricultural and grazing lands. It has taken roots in the entire length and breadth from Kashmir to Kanyakumari including Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Bengal, Assam, and the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. 

In the Uttarakhand region at the foothills of Himalaya there is another plant LANTANA that has become divine curse for the hills people of Garhwal and Kumaon. Its wild growth deprives the rural population  of small patches of cultivable land and animals do not eat these plants. 

PHILOSOPHY AND SOCIAL ACTION isa quaterly journal of interdisciplinary approach to philosophy ,Sceince and Society . We are concerned with issues of development and building the bridges between the knowledge world of science and social engineering . We announce a reward of Rs.500,000 to a scientist or
group of agroscientists who can provide herbicides that can destroy these harmful useless plants.

The herbicide must be field tested over a period of at least three years and scientifically proved and patented to quality for consideration of the award.
