Good to have your mail and am surprised to hear that you want to have a
Parthenium free state. It is good to talk in India on any subject. I wonder why you
want to have a Parthenium free state? I am not sure what the scientists of newly
created state Chhattisgarh will do if there is no Parthenium? What the politicians will
talk about?
If you are really serious, go the NRC Weed Science, Jabalpur and have the bugs (weevils)
which will eat away Parthenium. If you have got a lot of money in the name of new
capital, spray Glyphosate and have a community awareness/participation to wipe it out,
else it may regrow from tiny seeds which can move through wind, water or transport system.
I am still a bit sceptical about Parthenium eradication. We had many catchy slogans
like eradication of poverty, corruption and all sorts of things. Rather than their
eradication we have more of them..
Still, if you are serious I wish you all the best. If there are problems then
solutions are also many, it all depends who is taking up the cudgels to deliver the goods.
