Dear Dr Oudhia,

My name is Shyama Pagad and I am writing on behalf of the Invasive Species Specialist Group (ISSG). ISSG is part of the Species Survival Commission (SSC) of the IUCN - The World Conservation Union. Our group manages the Global Invasive Species Database (GISD). The database can be accessed on: http://www.issg.org/database .

The aim of the GISD is to provide easy access to core information to raise awareness about invasive species and to facilitate their effective prevention and management. The information is made available free of charge and not sold or restricted. We currently have about 200 species online and uploading at least 100 more soon.

Parthenium hysterophorus has been classified as one of the 100 worst, if you look on our database you will find that its profile is skethchy. I would like to know from you if you or any other expert could help us in compiling additional information to make the profile more robust. Our main sections will be identification, management and impact information, distribution records are equally important as each of the distribution records are linked to impact and management information specific to that location. We would also be interested in storing any papers, pertaining to the above information, as pdfs locally, for our users, many of whom have poor or no access to the internet.

I could send you the template for compiling the information if you consent, it is on excel format. cheers

Looking forward to your reply.
Shyama Pagad
